This was started as a podcast first… yet the inclination to write is natural for me, not necessarily easier, just more natural.
Part of my military training is writing loads of reports. For every “cool” activity I got to do (which really wasn’t all that great) there were always at least 3 separate reports for that activity… could be even more.
So writing comes naturally. Those reports, however, were structured. Regimented. They had to be clear, concise, easy to understand. They were simultaneously easy and difficult to write. Easy because there was no need for prose, different adjectives, and writing in complicated tenses other than past present or future was frowned upon.
Similarly, we couldn’t use complicated words as it might confuse those reading them.
I remember trying to use the word “nascent” in one of my reports. I was talking about a recent movement or ideology in Iraq, and I felt that word fit perfectly into the narrative I was trying to illustrate. Yet I received enough pushback from my higher-ups that I had to swap out “nascent” to “new”.
Same idea, yet somehow different… nascent felt right. It was at the beginning stages, it was emerging, the movement wasn’t “new” it was something more.
But for the sake of ease and clarity it was changed to new.
So that’s vastly different from this… I can write whatever I want.
Difficult, because I have to decide if it even makes sense. When I type it, it does, it will. But will I overthink? Will I experience writers block? Will the efforts be a waste of time or will it mean something?
So begins a transition, or evolution of a podcast to a blog. Or both. But much more…
The podcast, the blog will have one purpose: TO SET MEN & WOMEN FREE!
And maybe by men and women I just mean, to set me free.
Me as a member of humanity, where my sole purpose is liberty.
Or liberation.
What each soul longs for, yet seldom knows how or where to seek or find.
Liberty.
